General Publication Information
Tradition and Discovery (hereafter TAD) is a
regular publication of the Polanyi Society which is distributed in print to members but is also posted
in the digital archives on the Polanyi Society web site at the time of printing; anyone interested can download issues.
If you wish to receive the Table of Contents for each newly posted digital issue, send an e-mail request to Phil Mullins ( mullins@missouriwestern.edu), Eric Rustad (eric_m_rustad@yahoo.com), or Kyle Takaki (ktakaki@hawaii.edu) who currently handle the mailing of the digital issue.
TAD is a peer-reviewed journal; issues also include solicited material (review articles, invited addresses from Society meetings, etc.) which are editorially reviewed. Three issues (October, February and July) have been published each year since the
Fall of 1993 (Vol. 20). Most volumes are now available in the digital archives on Polanyi Society web site
in pdf format .Before Vol. 17 No. 1 & 2, TAD was published on an erratic schedule
(see the history discussion one level up) and the copies of these early issues is not good quality since they were
made from scanned paper copies. Additional early publications are slowly being added to the digital archives.
Materials listed in the author and books reviewed indices from early issues that are not
posted are usually available via interlibrary loan programs. Write Phil Mullins( mullins@missouriwestern.edu) for suggestions about how to secure copies of materials
published in early issues. Articles and reviews in TAD normally either treat or make
creative use of Michael Polanyi's philosophical ideas. The Library of Congress serials
numbers for TAD are ISSN 1057-1027 (print) and ISSN 2154-1566 (online). The copyright for
most of the material
appearing in TAD is held by the Polanyi Society; in most cases,
permission to reprint materials can be easily secured by contacting the
current editor. TAD is indexed selectively in The Philosopher's
Index and Religious and Theological Abstracts and is included in the EBSCO online database of
academic and research journals. TAD is listed in the Directory of Open Access Journals. For
information about subscription or submissions, as well as questions about material appearing
in TAD contact the current editor, Paul Lewis( lewis_pa@mercer.edu).
